"Stink" to grow

I had the opportunity to catch up with a friend tonight after a fun, but very quick and unexpected game of intramural volleyball. You know the kind of catching up where one shares the good, the bad, and the ugly. If I had to sum up the conversation it would be...."sometimes it takes a little fertilizer (a.k.a. "stink") to grow. A comment we both laughed about in fun, but holds so much truth to it. Think about it...those of you who are fellow lovers off all things green and growing. When do you see the fruits, blooms, what-ever the plant may be produce the most vivid, healthy, plant that could be? When it's fertilized of course! It's those beatings of the wind, rain, hail. The nutrients of the fertilizer. The patience on the growers part to produce some of the strongest most resilient plants. It's in those hard, stinky times that God grows us. He does and will use it for our good, to grow stronger, closer to Him. To minister to others, to produce "fruit" that will last. The next time you face some "stink" in your life look to God your source of Hope. And remember, no matter how bad the "stink" may be even the winds, rain, and hail are here for only a time.

Love in HIM
